My Take on Gina's Journal

Hi there again,
After watching Gina's video over on  StampTV I was really inspired to create my own. I don't know about you, but I keep a journal on my craft desk where I jot down things when I create. I know some crafters just create and then write down their tools, etc. afterwards but I find that I always leave something out. Instead, I jot things down as I go and sometimes I use this journal to brainstorm ideas as well. I recently purchased a new journal and haven't had time to embellish it, until today! This is what it looked like before:
This is what it looks like on the inside:
Yes I know, it's very messy! Luckily I can close the cover (LOL)
Gina's video inspired me to use some of the scrap DP I've been hoarding and I started playing around with a possible layout. Looking at my scraps, I decided on a colour scheme and proceeded to cut the pieces to size.
This is what the almost final layout looked like (before gluing anything down):
Because my journal's cover is black, I decided to mat all my DP onto black cardstock. I played around with the cut bits and once I was happy with the layout, I stuck the corner DP down and then sewed around it with the sewing machine. I then added all the other embellishments. The center bits were left overs after using my Labels 16 and Fancy Tags dies for another project.
This is the final product:
I added my name on a piece of cardstock which I heat embossed, using white embossing powder. You'll notice that I changed the layout slightly on the final product.
Thanks for looking and don't hesitate to ask questions.
Have a great weekend!
M

Nice!!! Did you use an embossing pen to write your name? I think I've seen that somewhere. I really need to finish my crafting notebook too. It's just got DP on it :D

Thanks for asking Riette! I actually stamped it using the Sweet Alpha Doodles stamp set from the Sweet Stamp Shop (with Versamark ink). It's very effective and you can 'write' anything with it. I do have a Versamark pen but haven't used it yet!
