Altered Box

Hi again,
We're at the start of another week and hopefully some sunshine! As promised, I am back with detailed steps on how I altered that sweet little box. (Product details at the end of the post.)
A dear friend invited me to a party at her house just before Christmas, where a representative from Phoenix Trading showcased their products. I decided to purchase two sets of gift boxes (among other things). At the time I thought they would be ideal for Christmas or birthdays and and would make a nice change on the usual paper wrapping style. The boxes come in sets of two, folded flat for easier transport.
This is what the box looked like after I took it out of the packaging and 'popped' it open:
This is such a cute design and the lid forms part of the structure, so you don't have to fiddle with extra bits of paper to make a lid! When you want to close the box, you press down on the top with your hand and it forms a lid, like this:

I wanted to make a thank you gift but also wanted to change the design on the sides. I really liked the stripes on the lid though and thought I could change the sides to tie in with the colours on the lid.
I matched the cardstock colours to the stripes on the lid and measured the sides before trimming the cardstock. I also 'un-popped' the box so as to work on a flat surface, rather than a 3D surface.
Next I decided to mix and match the existing cardstock using my Spellbinders Labels 16 nesties to create different coloured labels on each side. I stamped two cards with the Cool Scoop stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop  and two cards using their Sweet Tooth set which I glued onto the sides, alternating.

When closed, the lid fits snugly behind the coloured panels. The candies on the side were stamped separately, coloured, cut out and individually glued onto the side panels. I also added some rhinestones.
This is the view from the top, with the lid closed and the little card in place. I also added a bit of ribbon around the perimeter of the lid:
Voila! The final product:
The packet of marshmallows fit inside the box and makes a nice gift!
Thanks for visiting!
See ya later!
