Happy Birthday

Hi there,
I'm back today with two birthday cards I've made recently:

The first one is for my very special BIL. I wanted to make something really special for him and chose the GinaK 'Wild About You' stamp set:

The giraffe DP I used on the background is from the BoBunny Zoology paper pack and the brad is from the matching brads set also by BoBunny. I stamped the images and background using a range of Memento inks in Cantaloupe, Tangelo, Rich Cocoa and Tuxedo Black onto GinaK pure luxury Ivory cardstock. The hessian and jute twine are from my stash. The card is mounted on GinaK Designs pure luxury cardstock in Chocolate Brown.

I've also entered this card into this week's Live Chat Challenge (Show me some Metal) over on StampTV.

The next card is another birthday card, for a 7-year old boy:

The dinosaur image and sentiment are from the 'Little Loveosaurus' stamp set by My Favourite Things. For the background and paper piecing of the dinosaur, I used the Echo Park 'A Boy's Life' paper. I stamped the image and sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto GinaK pure luxury Red Hot cardstock and used the Labels 16 die by Spellbinders to cut out the sentiment. Ribbon, button & twine from my stash.

Thanks so much for popping in!

This Week's Challenge - The Outlawz Paper a la Mode Team

Hi there,
I'm back again with my latest creation for this week's Paper a la Mode challenge over on The Outlawz. Your challenge this week is to create something 'with wings' depicting those children going off to school, college or those making a new start. This is my take on it:

The cardstock is GinaK pure luxury in white and pink.  I masked the cardstock and sponged the pink strip using Tim Holtz distress ink in Spun Sugar. I then stamped the butterflies and sentiment using Memento Rose Bud before removing the mask. I also added some Stickles to the butterflies' wings, pearlies and ribbon to finish it off.

The Outlawz - Paper Folding Challenge

Hi there,
I'm back this week, hosting the challenge over on The Outlawz for the Paper a la Mode team. This week's challenge is to use paper folding somewhere on your creation. This is my card I created for this challenge:

I folded the little boat using some paper from the Echo Park (Splash) pack and used some scraps from my stash for the waves (I cut the waves using the waves die from Die-namics in my Cuttlebug). I also added some stickles. The cloud was also cut using a Die-namics cloud die. The sentiment on the cloud is from the stamp set "Make a Splash" by GinaK Designs (Asela Hopkins) and the little flag is from the "Perfect Pennants" stamp set by GinaK Designs (Tami Mayberry). The dark blue and light blue cardstocks are both GinaK Designs pure luxury cardstock.

My Latest Creations

Hi there,
Thanks for popping in. I know I've been a bit quiet lately but with work and family illness ... anyway, I'm glad you've come over for a look.

The first card is a birthday card I made for a friend, CASEing one of Melanie Muenchinger's cards from her book "A Year of Flowers" (p. 46). I changed the colour of the flower to orange and I quite like the green with the orange. I also added some stickles.

I saw a card on Pinterest a while ago with a heat emboss/resist image and I wanted to try it using distress inks. I made the following cards using that technique:

The Outlawz - Paper a la Mode Saturday Challenge

Hi there,
Welcome back to this week's post on The Outlawz Saturday Challenge. The challenge this week is to create a project with a circus theme (vintage or modern). This is my version:

The clown image is by Sweet & Sassy Stamps. I paper-pieced the clown's hat, hair, outfit, balloons & collar and coloured the rest using Copics. The cardstocks I used are all by GinaK Designs. I added glossy accents to his shoes, nose and balloons and used liquid applique to create pom-poms on his tummy.

Altered Journal & Card

Hi there,
I'm back today with an altered journal and card combo for our friend Beatrice, who is travelling overseas to study.

The mouse image is by Sweet & Sassy Stamps and I coloured it using Copics. I wanted to personalise the journal and added her name using the Sweet Alpha Doodles set by the Sweet Stamp Shop (the frame is from the same set) - I stamped the name and frame in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder.

The red cardstock is by GinaK Designs and the DP and ribbons are from my stash.

This bunny image is by The Cat's Pajamas and the sentiment is from the same set. I used some of the left-over paper from the journal to paper-piece the card. I also used my sewing machine to do the stitching. The clouds were cut using the flat-bottom dies by Die-namics.
